What We Do
Practice Areas
We advise on mistakes at every altitude: strategic, operational, artificial, and personal. Each practice is lead by a senior partner who has seen your exact situation before and billed it differently.
YDIAW maintains eight global practices. Nine are listed below. The figures were reviewed by our Wrongness Measurement practice and found to be both correct.
Practice 01
Strategic Wrongness
Long-term planning for outcomes nobody defined. We help leadership teams commit to multi-year roadmaps toward destinations that do not exist, then measure progress against them quarterly.
Our strategists specialize in vision statements engineered to survive contact with any evidence. Where a strategy already exists, we consolidate it with the other strategies it contradicts.
- Strategic Ambition Workshop — two days, off-site, off-topic
- Three-Horizon Roadmap, all three horizons receding
- Quarterly Strategy Refresh, in which the strategy is renamed
- Board Narrative — 140 slides, sequence disputed
Practice 02
Artificial Intelligence Confusion
You purchased the tools before identifying the problem. We can help you document why.
Our AI practice serves organizations that became AI-first without becoming anything else. We provide the governance frameworks, steering committees, and pilot programs required to ensure the technology is never actually deployed. The technology is ready. The open question is whether it's owners are.
- Enterprise AI Readiness Assessment (finding: not ready)
- Generative AI Governance Charter, generated
- Use-Case Prioritization Matrix — 47 use cases, 0 identified problems
- One (1) chatbot
Practice 03
Digital Transformation
The transformation is complete. Nothing has improved. Phase two begins Monday. Our practitioners have delivered over 400 enterprise transformations, several of which the client noticed.
Readiness
Six months of preparing to prepare. Concludes with a formal finding of unreadiness and a recommendation to proceed.
Alignment
Stakeholders are aligned in all directions simultaneously. Duration: indefinite. Progress: reported.
Execution
The legacy system is decommissioned in the deck and load-bearing in production.
Transformation 2.0
The retrospective concludes the transformation was a success and must therefore begin again.
Practice 04
Executive Overconfidence
Confidence is not evidence. Ours is.
We work directly with senior leaders whose certainty has outpaced there information. Engagements are discreet, findings are sealed, and the executive is briefed only on the portions they will agree with.
- Confidence Without Evidence Index™ score, delivered privately, twice
- 360° Feedback Program (participants: the executive)
- Decision Audit covering decisions announced before they were made
- Media training for the apology, scheduled in advance
Practice 05
Decision Reversal
We reverse decisions, including the decision to engage us. Reversal of the reversal is billed separately.
The practice serves organizations that have committed publicly to a course of action and privately to the opposite. Clients frequently ask whether they can simply change coarse. They can. It cannot be unbilled.
- Reversal Feasibility Study (feasible, inadvisable, invoiced)
- Stakeholder Re-Alignment until the original decision is unrecognizable
- Announcement package framing the reversal as the plan all along
- Reversal of the reversal — separate statement of work
Practice 06
Personal Wrongness
Enterprise-grade error analysis for your private life. The same methodology we deploy for governments, applied to your relationship, your purchase history, and your haircut.
Individual engagements begin with a full audit of decisions made since 2004. If you believe your different, that belief has been benchmarked. It is common.
- Personal Wrongness Baseline — family interviews conducted under NDA
- Life Decision Portfolio Review, 2004–present
- Relationship Economics briefing, per our published research
- Framed certificate, suitable for disputes
Practice 07
Operational Failure
Failure at the process level is often mistaken for bad luck. It is in fact a capability, and like any capability it can be matured, scaled, and certified.
We help operations leaders convert isolated breakdowns into repeatable programs, with documentation sufficient to ensure the failure survives any individual employee.
- End-to-End Process Failure Map (end not found)
- Root Cause Analysis, stopping one cause short of the root
- Standard Operating Procedure library — comprehensive, unopened
- Capacity planning for work that should not occur
Practice 08
Wrongness Measurement
What gets measured gets managed. What gets measured incorrectly gets managed confidently. Our measurement practice maintains the Global Wrongness Index and the instruments behind it, delivering dashboards of exceptional precision and no accuracy.
| Indicator | Current | Trend | Established Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global Wrongness Index | 71.4 | ▲ 0.3 | None |
| Executive Confidence | 96% | ▲ 1.1 | Unchanged by outcomes |
| Decision Velocity | 340 / day | ▲ 12 | Accelerating incorrectly |
| Stakeholder Alignment | 100% | ▬ 0.0 | All parties equally misinformed |
Sample client dashboard. Figures are precise to one decimal place and accurate to none.
Practice 09
Crisis Creation
Organizations without a crisis lack urgency, budget, and a reason to retain us. Our practitioners can source, scale, or where necessary originate the emergency your leadership team requires.
Post Failure Rationalization services are included in every Crisis Creation engagement, because they will be needed. See also the Grow phase of our W.R.O.N.G.® Framework.
- Crisis Origination — organic or synthetic
- War Room design, staffing, and catering
- Escalation Architecture (all paths lead to a steering committee)
- Post Failure Rationalization: the official account of what was always going to happen
